"Sonmaz Mashal" Cultural Relations Public Union has implemented a project called "Music that Astonishes the World" with the joint financial support from the Council of State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations under the Auspices of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The project, dedicated to the 135th anniversary of the great composer Uzeyir Hajibeyli, the founder of the modern professional music school of Azerbaijan, was implemented in partnership with the Azerbaijan National Conservatory, the Azerbaijan-American Music Foundation and Washington International Piano Arts Council .
Within the framework of the project, professional musicians from the United States of America and Azerbaijan performed and pre-recorded selected works of Uzeyir Hajibeyli. The presentation of the project took place on September 18 on the eve of the birthday of the great composer in the format of a video conference.
At the beginning of the presentation, the student choir of the Azerbaijan National Conservatory performed Uzeyir Bey's "Azerbaijan March", which was adopted as the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 1996. The performers were accompanied by American pianist Krista Miller.
A piece from the opera "Leyli and Majnun" was performed by mugam singers, winners of international competitions Orkhan Huseynli and Sadaf Budagova. Togrul Orujov accompanied them on tar and Mashallah Isgandarov on kamancha.
The romance "Dear Beloved" was performed by soprano Marina Shinko and pianist Frank Conlon with the support of our American partner - the Washington International Piano Arts Council. The duet of Veli and Telli from "Arshin mal alan" was performed by Cesar Velez (tenor), Ariel Hernandez (soprano) and Jamila Javadova Spitzberg (piano) with the organizational support of Azerbaijan-American Music Foundation.
The great composer's Ashigsayagy” music was performed by Aleksandr Snytkin (violin) Andrey Ponochevny (piano) and Oliver Schlaffer (cello) with the organizational support of the Azerbaijan-American Music Foundation. "Sarvar's aria" from the musical comedy “O olmasın, bu olsun” or "Mashadi Ibad" was performed by Emin Zeynalli, the romance "Without You" was performed by our compatriot pianist, professor and founder of the National Music & Global Culture Society, Dr. Nargiz Aliyarova who lives in New York, and Counter-Tenor Ilham Nazarov, the music of the dance of “Jangi “was be performed by Dongni Xie and The choir of Chanlibel was performed by the Student Choir of the Azerbaijan National Conservatory.
The musical program showcasted illustrations drawn by artist Narmina Valiyeva to the composer's personages.
The speakers of the event -vice-rector for scientific affairs of the Azerbaijan National Conservatory, Doctor of Philosophy in Art History, Professor Lala Huseynova, founder of the Washington International Piano Arts Council Chateau Gardetsky, director of the Azerbaijan-America Music Foundation Jamila Javadova-Spitzberg, head of the Conservatory Student Choir Tarana Yusifova and artist Tarana Yusifova spoke about the composer's music and creative works.
After the presentation ceremony the performed music was saved in the Google-Drive as an e-disk and placed on YouTube (https://youtu.be/TKPfrBgIP78) to be accessible to the whole internet users and reach more audince.
